Description : Read Now The Jew Is Not My Enemy by Tarek Fatah and you can download with pub, pdf, txt, doc, and more file format with free account. a liberal muslim and critically acclaimed author explores the historical, political, and theological basis for centuries of muslim animosity towards jews, debunking long-held myths and tracing a history of hate and its impact today. more than nine years after 9/11 and 60 years after the creation of the state of israel, the world is no closer to solving, let alone understanding, the psychological and political divide between jews and muslims. while countless books have been written on the subject of terrorism, political islam, and jihad, barely a handful address the theological and historical basis of the jew—muslim divide. following the terrorist attacks on mumbai in november 2008, in which pakistani jihadis sought out and murdered the members of a local jewish centre, tarek fatah began an in-depth investigation of the historical basis for the crime. in this provocative new book, fatah uses extensive research to trace how literature from as early as the seventh century has fueled the hatred of jews by muslims. fatah debunks the anti-jewish writings of the hadith literature, takes apart the arab supremacist doctrines that lend fuel to the fire, and reinterprets supposed anti-jewish passages in the quran. in doing so he argues that hating jews is against the essence of the islamic spirit and suggests what needs to be done to eliminate the agonizing friction between the two communities. from the hardcover edition.

Description : Read Now Cascades Of Violence by John Braithwaite and you can download with pub, pdf, txt, doc, and more file format with free account. as in the cascading of water, violence and nonviolence can cascade down from commanding heights of power (as in waterfalls), up from powerless peripheries, and can undulate to spread horizontally (flowing from one space to another). as with containing water, conflict cannot be contained without asking crucial questions about which variables might cause it to cascade from the top-down, bottom up and from the middle-out. the book shows how violence cascades from state to state. empirical research has shown that nations with a neighbor at war are more likely to have a civil war themselves (sambanis 2001). more importantly in the analysis of this book, war cascades from hot spot to hot spot within and between states (autesserre 2010, 2014). the key to understanding cascades of hot spots is in the interaction between local and macro cleavages and alliances (kalyvas 2006). the analysis exposes the folly of asking single-level policy questions like do the benefits and costs of a regime change in iraq justify an invasion? we must also ask what other violence might cascade from an invasion of iraq? the cascades concept is widespread in the physical and biological sciences with cascades in geology, particle physics and the globalization of contagion. the past two decades has seen prominent and powerful applications of the cascades idea to the social sciences (sunstein 1997; gladwell 2000; sikkink 2011). in his discussion of ethnic violence, james rosenau (1990) stressed that the image of turbulence developed by mathematicians and physicists could provide an important basis for understanding the idea of bifurcation and related ideas of complexity, chaos, and turbulence in complex systems. he classified the bifurcated systems in contemporary world politics as the multicentric system and the statecentric system. each of these affects the others in multiple ways, at multiple levels, and in ways that make events enormously hard to predict (rosenau 1990, 2006). he replaced the idea of events with cascades to describe the event structures that 'gather momentum, stall, reverse course, and resume anew as their repercussions spread among whole systems and subsystems' (1990: 299). through a detailed analysis of case studies in south asia, that built on john braithwaite's twenty-five year project peacebuilding compared, and coding of conflicts in different parts of the globe, we expand rosenau's concept of global turbulence and images of cascades. in the cascades of violence in south asia, we demonstrate how micro-events such as localized riots, land-grabbing, pervasive militarization and attempts to assassinate political leaders are linked to large scale macro-events of global politics. we argue in order to prevent future conflicts there is a need to understand the relationships between history, structures and agency; interest, values and politics; global and local factors and alliances.

"this is a fascinating, well illustrated and thoroughly documented response to the relentless anti-christian propaganda that has been generated by muslin and marxist groups and by hollywood film makers. as karl marx declared: 'the first battlefield is the re-writing of history!' 'peter knows first hand the nature of the enemy the west is facing and exposes it brilliantly in this book on islam. he begins by documenting the close relationship between islam and slavery and then chapter by chapter reveals the terrible cost of thirteen centuries of islamic invasion, conquest and brutalisation. this is a book that every christian should read and pass along to friends; and one that every home-schooling family should require as part of their children's curriculum' -- dr. brian m. abshire. 'dr. peter hammond cuts through layers of misinformation and uncovers astonishing historical facts and details long buried by islamic revisionists. you'll find out their real agenda for tomorrow by discovering what they actually did yesterday-plus a field-tested plan of how to win muslims to christ' -- rev. bill bathman. 'for the sake of this generation, and coming ones, someone had to do what dr. peter hammond has just done; setting the record straight on the different role players in the slave trade' -- rev. fano sibisi. 'slavery, terrorism & islam, is must reading to all those who want to find out the roots of the terrorism that is threatening global security' -- rev. jeffreys kayanga." -- back cover.

Description : Read Now Conflict Security And The Reshaping Of Society by Alessandro Dal Lago and you can download with pub, pdf, txt, doc, and more file format with free account. a pdf version of this book is available for free in open access via www.tandfebooks.com as well as the oapen library platform, www.oapen.org. it has been made available under a creative commons attribution-non commercial-no derivatives 3.0 license and is part of the oapen-uk research project. this book is an examination of the effect of contemporary wars (such as the 'war on terror') on civil life at a global level. contemporary literature on war is mainly devoted to recent changes in the theory and practice of warfare, particular those in which terrorists or insurgents are involved (for example, the 'revolution in military affairs', 'small wars', and so on). on the other hand, today's research on security is focused, among other themes, on the effects of the war on terrorism, and on civil liberties and social control. this volume connects these two fields of research, showing how 'war' and 'security' tend to exchange targets and forms of action as well as personnel (for instance, the spreading use of private contractors in wars and of military experts in the 'struggle for security') in modern society. this shows how, contrary to clausewitz's belief war should be conceived of as a "continuation of politics by other means", the opposite statement is also true: that politics, insofar as it concerns security, can be defined as the 'continuation of war by other means'. this book will be of much interest to students of critical security studies, war and conflict studies, terrorism studies, sociology and ir in general. salvatore palidda is professor of sociology in the faculty of education at the university of genoa. alessandro dal lago is professor of sociology of culture and communication at the university of genoa.

Description : Read Now The Story Of Mohammed Islam Unveiled by Harry Richardson and you can download with pub, pdf, txt, doc, and more file format with free account. mohammed's story is the most incredible story never told. it is said that truth is stranger than fiction and honestly, no-one could have made this up. there are battles, murders, intrigues, rapes, assassinations, torture, intimidation, and much much more. along the way mohammed invented jihad, the most effective system of conquest ever devised. mohammed's life story is also the key which unlocks the complexities and confusion of the islamic religion itself. by understanding his story we quickly gain a clear insight into islam and the incredible importance this subject holds for our future. this amazing book pulls no punches and brings the subject to life in a way which is both fascinating and informative. rather than looking at islam through a prism of western (and by default, christian) perspective, it examines the islamic perspective itself. in doing so it illuminates the contrast between western and islamic ethics and beliefs in plain and simple language which makes it a delight to read. millions of people, both muslims and non muslims are tragically affected by aspects of islam. more than 95% of all wars and armed conflict today involve muslims. muslims also suffer some of the highest rates of poverty, disease, hunger, illiteracy, environmental degradation and many more crippling disadvantages. by tackling the subject head on, this book leaves us with the knowledge and understanding to address these problems with logical and well thought out solutions. debra riddle on amazon uk said:i started to read this book open minded but could not put it down. i think every living person in the world today whatever religion should read this. absolutely brilliant, a real eye opener and written so anyone can understand. kazi asaduzzaman said:this is a fantastic book with all the significant insights into the subject. to understand the subject, it is a valuable tool for the non muslims to begin with and an eye opener for the muslims who want to know the truth from all the perspectives.i strongly recommend this book for others to read. in the current context, it's a must read. f. parsons, also on amazon uk called it “brilliant” and left the following review:“a concise and factual account of the exploits of mohammed and the repercussions throughout history to today. i could not put this book down having started reading it. highly recommended”. fred j. alexander said:this amazing factual book reads like an adventure story. islam is based on the life of mohammed and mohammed is not like any other prophet. easy reading only 135 pages. if you want insight on islam and jiahd, etc. this is for you. john “crafty” of sydney said:this book really impressed me. i feared a xenophobic treatise but instead found a compelling history of islam. certainly i will read more to increase my knowledge. to find out why this book has so many 5 star reviews, secure your copy now while it remains at this bargain basement price.

Description : Read Now The Race For Paradise by Paul M. Cobb and you can download with pub, pdf, txt, doc, and more file format with free account. "in the race for paradise, paul m. cobb offers an accurate and accessible representation of the islamic experience of the crusades during the middle ages. cobb overturns previous claims and presents new arguments, such as the idea that the frankish invasions of the near east were something of a side-show to the broader internal conflict between sunnis and shi'ites in the region. the race for paradise moves along two fronts as cobb stresses that, for medieval muslims, the contemporaneous latin christian expansion throughout the mediterranean was seen as closely linked to events in the levant. as a consequence of this expanded geographical range, the book takes a broader chronological range to encompass the campaigns of spanish kings north of the ebro and the norman conquest of sicily (beginning in 1060), well before pope urban ii's famous call to the first crusade in 1095. finally, the race for paradise brilliantly combats the trend to portray the history of the crusades, particularly the islamic experience, in simplistic or binary terms. muslims did not solely experience the crusades as fanatical warriors or as helpless victims, cobb writes; as with any other human experience of similar magnitude, the crusades were experienced in a great variety of ways, ranging from heroic martyrdom, to collaboration, to utter indifference"--
